We all have seen and read reports horrific actions of sexual predators. Unthinkable and unforgivable things have been done to children by sexual predators. A child is an amazing creation, and deserves protection from sexual predators’ vile, cruel and devastating acts on children. Parents, grandparents, and school personnel must learn how to protect children from these predators. Children must to be protected from situations that could result in sexual offenses.

Unfortunately, there are no fool-proof ways to totally protect your child from sexual predators. But, being aware and taking precautions can lower your child’s chances of becoming sexually abused at the hands of these predators. predators

Take a walk with your child and point out places that they should not go, such as alleys, tunnels, abandoned properties, or secluded areas. In addition to telling them they should not go to these places, take the time to explain why. Children comprehend more than we may realize. They are capable of understanding fear, danger, and physical harm. So, take the time to really ‘talk’ to your children, instead of just setting rules or shouting out orders.

Be aware and keep abreast about your neighbors, and who moves into your neighborhood. Many times, sexual predators move into a neighborhood without anyone knowing about their seedy backgrounds. Know as much as you possibly about the people living around you and your children.

Be aware and watch for suspicious vehicles or people in your neighborhood. Report unusual activity to local police, and ask them to patrol the area on a regular basis. You can initiate a neighborhood watch with other trusted adults and families. This way a responsible adult will always be looking out for strangers hanging around that do not belong in the neighborhood.

Never allow unsupervised acquaintances to be alone with your child, if you’re having a party, or serving alcohol to guests. Alcohol can cause people to lose moral values. Drinking too much, too often often can create potential threats inside your home.

Teach your children that talking to strangers is a bad idea, and that they must never accept gifts, such as candy, pets, or rides. Teach your child to run to an adult that they know, or to a group of people and ask for help. Don’t allow your child to walk home from school alone. Many times, sexual predators hang around schools, and monitor children that are unsupervised before attacking. If you child must be alone, teach them to always walk in groups. This will not stop a sexual predator from abducting a child, but more eyes will see them. Never send your child to school or daycare without obtaining as much information about the employed personnel. Ask to check records concerning violations that occurred on the premises, or by personnel. If you suspicion something is wrong, talk to authorities immediately. No suspicion is unfounded when it comes to protecting your children from sexual predators.
